Osteoporosis Physical Therapy
As women age they lose bone mass due to a decrease in estrogen levels. Post-menopausal women lose approximately 1 to 2 percent of their bone mass each year. Research shows that 25 percent of all women will suffer a vertebral compression fracture at some time in thier lives, resulting in pain, height loss and impaired mobility.
Our physical therapy team is trained to design an individualized exercise program that will be safe for you. The exercise program focuses on stretching tight muscles, strengthening weak muscles and improving balance. This will help your overall posture and improve your done density as the exercises provide a direct wight bearing force to the spine. Patients also report a decrease in pain and fell that they have successfully decreased their risk from a fracture.
If you would like to attend physical therapy, contact your physician for a referral to Arnot Health physical therapy.
