Ultrasound at Arnot Health
Also called a sonogram or ultrasound scanning, ultrasound obtains images from inside the body using high-frequency sound waves. The reflected sound wave echoes are recorded and displayed as real-time visual images on a computer screen. This procedure is most common in determining the condition of a pregnant woman and her embryo or fetus. Ultrasound is also useful in examining many of the body's internal organs, including the heart, liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, and bladder.
Ultrasound is available in the radiology departments of the Arnot Ogden Medical Center and Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital. Your physician will help you decide what test are provider are right for you.
