HIV Disease Management
Primary care for a person with HIV is different. Your healthcare team at the HIV Primary Care Clinic has been specially trained to coordinate appropriate medical, psychological, and social services for you and your family.
Diagnostic Testing
A nurse phlebotomist conducts blood draws at your appointment for your privacy and convenience. X-rays, CT scans and other tests may be performed at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Ira Davenport or other regional medical facilities. Our staff helps you make the appointment and understand the results.
Comprehensive Care
Our affiliates provide services, support, and care to people with HIV/AIDS. As needed, we will refer you to dental, dermatology, ophthalmology, urology, orthopedics, gastroenterology, or other needed specialists. We can help you get an appointment and arrange transportation.
Drug Trials
The HIV Primary Care Clinic works with Strong Memorial Hospital, Trillium Health in Rochester and the Albany Medical Center to conduct drug trials on promising new treatments for HIV/AIDS. Our patients may receive early access to these programs under the supervision of HIV specialists.
Additional Support Services
Insurance Assistance: Financial counseling is available to assist with insurance issues. If you do not have insurance, our clinic will help you with applications for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP).
Social Emotional Support: Our team provides counseling to you and your loved ones to adjust to living with illness, coping skills and daily functioning.
Treatment Adherence Counseling: An adherence counselor supports proper use of medications, assists in access to appointments, and helps develop an individualized regimen for patients.
Peer Support: A peer navigator offers patients support, assistance with access to appointments, services and health education services by sharing personal insights and experiences as someone who has utlitized similar services.
