In our desire to provide the highest quality of care, Arnot Health seeks accreditations from many professional organizations, academic associations and consumer advocates. The following accreditations are an achievement for Arnot Health and acknowledge that we are following the best-recommended practices in the healthcare industry.
The Joint Commission (TJC)
The Joint Commission is a not-for-profit group healthcare accreditation agency that accredits hospitals all across the United States. TJC develops operational standards that address crucial elements of performance, such as infection control, environment of care, medication management, and provision and record of care, treatment, and services. Their mission is to continuously improve health care for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders, by evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value. Their vision is that all people always experience the safest, highest quality, best-value health care across all settings. They have held the responsibility of deeming authority for hospitals since 1965, meaning they can officially determine which hospitals meet CMS certification requirements.
To keep its Joint Commission accredited status, a healthcare organization is subject to an onsite evaluation performed by a Joint Commission survey group at least every three years, laboratories and Primary Stroke Certified units must undergo reviews every two years.
Mammography, MRI and Ultrasound
American College of Radiology - ACR Accreditation programs provide a high level of confidence for patients, referring physicians and managed care organizations that only the highest quality care is being provided. The ACR certificate of accreditation gives assurance that staff and equipment have passed the ACR's rigorous evaluation criteria. The ACR, headquartered in Reston, Va., awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of their practice.
New York State Department of Health Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program (CLEP) - The overall quality of testing conducted by all clinical laboratories and blood banks throughout the state, as well as out-of-state facilities and international laboratories that accept clinical specimens obtained in New York State is monitored by the CLEP. CLEP seeks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory testing through a mandatory licensing program that includes on-site inspections, proficiency testing and evaluation of personnel qualifications.
College of American Pathologists (CAP) - CAP is a private, not-for-profit accrediting organization that has been deemed status by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) since its requirements are equivalent to or more stringent than CMS's regulatory requirements. The goal of the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is to improve the quality of clinical laboratory services through voluntary participation in professional peer review, education, proficiency testing and compliance with established performance standards.
International Association for Continuing Education (IACET) - Arnot Ogden Medical Center is approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).
IACET's mission is to enhance quality in continuing education and training through research, education, and standard setting. Arnot Ogden Medical Center is authorized to offer IACET Continuing Education Units (CEU's) for all current training programs that meet the IACET criteria, as well as any programs created during that meet the criteria. This will benefit the course participants by ensuring quality educational programs that meet the high standards as set by IACET. Arnot Ogden Medical Center is now linked to the IACET Web site and is recognized as offering the highest quality continuing education and training programs.
