ELMIRA – William E. Huffner, MD, was recently named as Arnot Ogden Medical Center’s Vice President of Medical Affairs. 
Dr. Huffner’s experience includes eight years at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, serving as a physician in the Emergency Department from 1986 to 1990 and as Chair and Medical Director of the Emergency Department from 1990 to 1994.
Dr. Huffner earned his medical degree at the SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse in 1983 and completed his residency and internship at Upstate Medical Center. In addition to his experience at Arnot Health, Dr. Huffner was an Emergency physician at Mercy Hospital in Watertown, Lee Memorial in Fulton and St. Joseph’s in Elmira.
Dr. Huffner remains active Emergency Medical Services, serving on New York State’s Emergency Medical Advisory Committee, the NYS EMS Council and several of its committees. Regionally, he serves as chairman of the Southern Tier Regional Medical Advisory Committee and as medical director of the Southern Tier Regional Emergency Medical Services Council.
In addition, Dr. Huffner helped initiate a local high-school based emergency medical services training program for high school students at Notre Dame High School in Elmira. The program, which is a unique collaboration between Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Corning Community College, EMSTAR and Erway Ambulance, will graduate its second set of Certified First Responders (CFRs) this month and its first Basic EMTs in May. Students complete their clinical rotations here and at Erway Ambulance and are able to receive college credit for their efforts.
